Probiotic Overdose

Sometimes, probiotic overdose occurs during an overzealous effort to fight and prevent diseases such as cancer.

The effects of this overdose can be very uncomfortable digestive discomfort...in fact, it can cause the same symptoms that probiotics treat and prevent.

Some of the symptoms include:

explosive diarrhea
bloating
constipation

How many probiotics can I take before I overdose?

As with many drugs, the amount of probiotics one can take before overdosing varies from person to person. For some, just a few billion CFUs (colony forming units) can cause overdose of probiotics symptoms. For others, it may take as many as 200 billion CFUs.

How can I most safely take probiotics?

The safest way to take probiotics is to start with few billion CFUs, and increase the daily dosage as necessary. But these side effects do not mean we shouldn't take probiotics. Rather, they are part of the cleansing process.
